Africa NGOs Alliance for environmental sustainability (ANAES)
Africa’s Environmental Champions, the Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS Network), and the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance, are thrilled to announce the launch of the African NGOs Alliance for Environmental Sustainability (ANAES). This landmark partnership brings together the most prominent conservation NGOs in Africa to tackle the most pressing environmental issues and drive sustainable development across the continent.

Africa Regional Mountains Forum (Armf-2018)
ARCOS in collaboration with the Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Environment and other partners, organised the second Africa Regional Mountains Forum (ARMF-2018). The conference was held from September 12-14 under the theme ‘African Mountains and Sustainable Development Agenda’.

East African Mountains Regional Dialogue Event and Consultation Meeting
ARCOS together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the East African Community Secretariat are implementing the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) funded” Adaptation at Altitude” Programme”s regional component in East Africa, closely working together with governments and adaptation practitioners in the six EAC partner states.
ARCOS participates in a number of events including conferences, seminars, and panel discussions.
UNFCCC COP 27 side event – IPCC Cross-Chapter Paper 5: Mountains – sharing knowledge to promote adaptation initiatives in mountains
This event focus on how to use science based information to promote the inclusion of mountains in the UNFCCC texts and how to promote pro- mountain policies within frameworks such as the Rio Conventions. Dr Sam Kanyamibwa, ARCOS CEO will deliver a key note on Climate Change in EAC and what is being done. Last, his note will be concluded by calling governments to streamline SMD in their programming and interventions.

ARCOS is partnering with ABAKIR (Autorité du Bassin du Lac Kivu et de la Rivière Ruzizi), GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and Rwanda Water Resources Board to pilot efficient and resilient best management practices to conserve biodiversity and restore degraded land across lake Kivu and Rusizi river basin.
