Wako M. Joel


Development, Communication and M&E Officer



Mr. Wako has enrolled for MSc. in Natural Resource Management and Community Development at Makerere University Kampala. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Social Administration obtained from Uganda Christian University. He has conducted and assisted in research and data collection, environmental education and community engagements in different places. He has had a number of hands-on training in research, Communication, Documentation and Media Relations; Policy and Advocacy; Grant Writing/Fundraising; Project Management; Organisation Management and Palliative Care.


He has over 10 years of experience in working with conservation organisations in Uganda, Kenya and India. He has conducted research in water and sanitation and presented papers to the annual Eastern Africa Environment Network (EAEN) in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. 

Currently, Joel is the Development, Communications and M&E Officer. His overall responsibility is to provide support in the implementation of fundraising activities by the organisation to significantly maximise income and profile of the organisation in alignment with ARCOS Network marketing and fundraising strategy, to collect, manage and compile information for outreach and contribute to monitoring and evaluation exercises for various ARCOS Network initiatives. 

Wako has interest in reading and writing, sight seeing, nature conservation, environmental education, and bird watching. He loves adventure; smooth jazz music and Formula One motor sport.
