Simas is an undergraduate student at the University of East Anglia, UK. As part of his course in International Development and Environment he undertook an internship at ARCOS Network for two months (Mid-October to Mid-December 2018). During his time at ARCOS Network, he assisted the team (mostly the communications department) where he worked on different tasks related to publications (documents and audio-visual materials). However, his biggest appreciation for the work ARCOS does came from field visits where previously learned theory met real-life situations.
Currently, he is writing a dissertation on anthropogenic threats to bird species in the Echuya Central Forest Reserve using data he collected with a colleague from ARCOS, Martin Sindikubwabo.
A jack of all trades, master of none, Simas devotes his time to hikes in the nature, reading, brewing beer and playing sports amongst many other things.
