Dr. Adrie Mukashema has a PhD in Geoinformation Sciences and Natural Resources Management, a degree obtained at the University of Twente, in the Netherlands in 2017. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Natural Resource Management with specialization of Soil Information Systems for Land Management, obtained at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), at University of Twente in 2007. Her undergraduate degree of Agricultural Engineer in 2003 was obtained at the National University of Rwanda (NUR). Adrie has 15 years of experience working in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs). She has been lecturer at the National University of Rwanda from 2005 to 2013 and Coordinator of a Nuffic funded capacity building program in Geoinformation sciences (NPT/NICHE RWA 071) at the NUR Centre for GIS and Remote Sensing research and training (CGIS-NUR) from 2007 to 2011. In March 2013, Adrie was appointed by the Cabinet of Rwanda as Deputy Director General of Rwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA), in charge of Forestry and Nature conservation department up to February 2016. In December 2017, she was appointed Senior Lecturer and Dean of Agriculture and Rural Development at Christian University of Rwanda (CHUR) up to August 2019, then after, she was appointed to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of CHUR for Academic Affairs position up to date. In addition to working as Senior lecturer at Higher Learning Institutions and senior manager in various position, Adrie has professional records as consultant and expert in the use of GIS and Remote Sensing tools in the planning, monitoring and management of Agriculture, forests, Land and Water Resources. She also has international experiences records ranging from consultancies, projects coordination, research, publications and conference participation. Her research and advisory interest focuses on the application of GIS and Remote Sensing techniques in the management of natural resources and agriculture for food security, biodiversity conservation, Landscape restoration, and environmental quality.
