Technical Facilitation for the Establishment and Implementation of FONERWA's Climate Community Adaptation Fund (CAF)

Description

Climate change is seen as an emerging challenge that is negatively affecting social, environmental, and economic dimensions of development globally. With its topography giving it a name of “the land of a thousand hills”, economy primarily depending on rain-fed agriculture and its other development sectors strongly dependent on environment and climate, Rwanda is severely vulnerable to climate change and its impacts are felt countrywide, while the communities are the most affected.

FONERWA (http://fonerwa.org/ ) was also established as an engine to drive the process for building climate resilience and environmental safeguard as part of the Rwanda’s green growth agenda. CAF is therefore a mechanism put in place by FONERWA to support environmental and climate resilient solutions at community level and its pilot phase is implemented through “Green Gicumbi Project“.
